I have a 1907 that my father has owned for decades. It appears to be of 1907 production. SN is 2XXX...
The thing about it is I can't find any information on it. It is some kind of deluxe version with stock and forearm inlays. Is anyone familiar with one such as this?
I'd post a picture if I knew how to do it!

The only Winchester made deluxe version I'm had a better grade of wood and checkering on the grip and forearm. There is a post about how to post pictures on the Test/Technical section of the forum. We'd like to see your 1907.

From the looks of the hooked end of the charging rod, you appear to have a late production Model 1907, probably sometime in the late 40s up to end of production in 1957. The inlays and the white line in front of the non-original recoil pad just scream 1950s. I don't think it came from the factory like that.

Then how the 4 digit serial number?
The information I have says 1-8657 are made in 1907. This one is 28XX...

That is strange then. Maybe they took a 1907 vintage WSL and performed an extensive reconditioning and modification sometime in the 1950s. And at the same time, whoever did the inlay work and the white line spacer and recoil pad also replaced the old operating rod with a newer version. Can you tell if your gun has been re-blued? It may have originally been a Model 1907 "Deluxe" model that was taken in hand for reconditioning, though the wood and grain doesn't look to be of a particularly high grade.

I wish I knew more about it. It's one my dad has had for 30 years or more. I don't know that he ever even fired it in that time. He was more into older guns. 1873's and the like.
