lucky stiff! That stuffs getting hard to find.str strange story. my son-in-law asked me bring my .401 to the tyler gun show we set up at. he actually carried it around the main room for 30 minutes or so just to see stares he would get and man did he get them. an older dealer asked about it and showed him one he had for sale. i looked at it and told him i was interested if we could get together on a price. said he was moving back to california and wanted to sell off most of his guns. did not really want to haul them back. asked me if i was also interested in his remington model 81. we got within 75.00 on the pair. said to find something else and we could work a deal on 3 better. anyway, ended up with the .401, the 81 and a norinco sks ( too much 7.62 ammo around the house). he said he thought he had a little .401 ammo around the house and when he packed up he would send it with his nephew if i was interested. that is how i ended up with the ammo and dies. occasionally put a .401 or a .351 or a model 8 mon the table- not to sell, but to see what kind of responses i get. do not have to take my shoes off to count the total number of people who attend these shows that know what they are. got a friend here in town with 2 .401s but NO ammo. get to gloat agaqin next time he comes to the office. found a dealer with 2 boxes of .32 remington ammo. waiting on him to get a little more in line before i offer him a price for them.

Traded for a few cartridges, but i don't think i'll be using them in my gun. I heard that Cordite is corosive?

My understanding, and please know that I am very open to expanding my understanding of all things "firearm", is that it's the primers that may be corrosive and that Cordite powder burns very hot and has a reputation for eroding the rifling in the throat of a barrel. That being said, I've seen Enfield rifles which have obviously been used for decades which still have decent barrels. I've got some Kynoch primed brass, but no loaded ammo.
