Hello, everybody! I just received my 1914 vintage 1907 rifle today. The front sight is a Lyman replacement and I was wondering if anyone knew the correct height of the OEM front sight from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of the blade. I have many front sights on hand to choose from, but am not sure of the configuration of the original. Thank you for any assistance.
I have obtained a set of Redding dies and some nice cast bullets, along with some copper plated bullets from Graf. Brass is obviously a major issue, but I check numerous websites daily. This should be a fun rifle to shoot. Cheers!

I know that Winchester offered different sights, but I don't know the height. I had to replace my front sight as someone had fitted a receiver sight which required a higher front sight. I kept the sight, but I have no way to measure it.
FYI on reloading we tried 2400, but found it to be pretty hard on the gun and we settled on 4227. We even developed a load using unique which, while anemic, still worked the action without beating up the gun.

I recently purchased a pound of IMR 4227 (ouch!) and am ready to load. I am awaiting the arrival of a Marble's tang sight. I hope it is as nice as the photos showed! The rifle is in great condition underneath all of the dried oil and dirt. Lots of nice blue remaining. The bore turned out to be near perfect after a couple of days with Sweet's. There are some small cracks in the forend that I will stabilize with Acra Glas. The forend was SO full of oil that I had to soak it in acetone to remove the sludge.
