I want to trade or sell my Remington Model 8. I have pictures of this rifle but can't figure how to post them. The serial number is #4554 and it retains much its original finish which is now a nice brown patina. The first 30 on the 30-30 on the bolt is worn or filed down but still legible. Bore is in good condition. I need for someone to give me an honest value for this rifle. email ralphcataldo@comcast.net for pictures

I will give you my opinion on the value of your rifle. The book value of this particular rifle is much lower than what they have sold for especially in the last few years. Your rifle would likely sell for between $350.00 on up to possibly $500.00ish if past prices are any indicator. The previous website to this one had alot of members and generated alot of interest in these rifles as it had grown to quite a few members. This particular site is growing and I expect that if it continues to grow, interest and prices will continue to climb. I am confident that you should be able to sell it in a reasonable amount of time for around a $400.00 asking price. I, however am not an expert in the least. My opinions are based strictly on what I have seen in the past and should not be considered exact.

I think Kirk pretty well covers it. Pictures can be uploaded to photobukcet.com and then copied to a message using the "Photobucket Copy" command.
It sounds like your gun is shooter grade not a high in demand collector grade. The last model 8 in 30rem that I bought on Gun Broker has a mirror bore and I paid $630 for with the wood and receiver in original very good shape It has a Marbles peep sight on it that goes for 150 to 200 dollars on ebay.
Even for shooter grade condition controls the price.
