I acquired one of these FN rifles recently. The bad news is that it is refinished, and missing the firing pin, bolt carrier latch, it's spring, and the screw which holds it in place. There is good news. The price was right, the rebluing was very well done with minimal buffing, bore is very nice, and I already have all of the missing parts except the screw in my spare parts bin. The screw is on it's way. My only concern is whether the threads will match the screw for the Remington model 8....... Does anyone know if this is the case or if the American versus Metric threads will be a problem? Royk

The screw arrived, made my day for about 5 minutes....... This was the time it took to get the screw out of it packaging, try it in the rifle, and discover that it does not fit....... The Remington screw is too small. Does anyone here know where to find the slightly larger bolt carrier latch screw for the FN M1900? Will the bolt carrier latch, it's spring, and the firing pin for the Mod 8 interchange? I am hoping that some of those fortunate souls who own complete M1900 rifles can help me with this. That really would make my day....... Royk

I've never had to try to interchange any parts between the two but I would assume everything would be different - metric/inch As a matter of fact, and I meant to take pics of this the other day, I was looking at the muzzle difference between the FN and Model 8 - very obvious difference in the barrel thickness, barrel nut and bushing Maybe try a bolt supply house for the metric screw?

Good questions fellas. We've recently completed an article on the FN 1900 and addressed this very subject.
Quite a few parts are NOT interchangeable including the receivers and bolt carriers. These rifles may look very similar, and in fact are, but attention to detail will reveal MANY areas are not similar. Barrel extensions are milled differently and op. handle slots are different. Stay tuned and we'll post the article.
You may try and manufacture that screw yourself.

I shall be most eager to see your upcoming article. The parts that are missing from the rifle are the bolt carrier latch, it's spring, the screw which holds it in place, and the firing pin. I have all these parts for the Remington but these may not interchange. The bolt latch screw definately does not fit. I am hoping that someone here knows where to find these parts for the FN M1900. I don't have a lathe to make screws...... Royk
