I just bought my first vintage semi auto. I have a Winchester 1910 .401 SL on order from Allens Armory. I have a few old semiautomatic rifles(WWII) but this will be my first "Vintage" rifle.
It needs a mag and a butt plate. Of course I will need some brass and reload info to get started.
Anybody out there wanna help out a tyro?? I look forward to meeting y'all. Rick

Welcome aboard. I'm jealous. I thought about snapping up that one myself. Joh. Eliasson looked pretty good in most respects and certainly looked like a good shooter. I'm trying to get set up for reloading the .401. I"ll try to keep you apprised of my progress (or lack as the case may be). I go mainly by what's in Henwood's book, "the Forgotten Winchesters".

Thanks Hardrada - I received the rifle and Allen, true to his word as usual, described the rifle perfectly. I am a happy camper. I bought the 1910 on a whim. I always wanted one and had never seen one for sale. I would be a VERY HAPPY CAMPER if I actually shoot it.
A Midway package of dies, shell holder and bullets will run me about $140. Then of course powder, primers and the load data. Even with that I will have a single shot.
I would really like to get a magazine for it and hopefully a buttplate.
Any help from anyone would be much appreciated. Thanks; Rick rick@sccwpts.com

hey man i am in S.C. also, what town are you in? i had a 351 and a 401 and sold them with the dies and some ammo a few years ago, been sorry ever since. the 401 was a monster in the fact it really slammed hard on recoil, but fun to shoot. i now have a rem. model 8 in 32 rem. it is the most accurate gun i owen with cast boolits. i killed a turkey 170 steps with it off hand! i was stunned. i also have a 336 in 32 win special that is probably as accurate. i love the 32s.

Hey ya'll I'm back after a long spell off line. I just bought ANOTHER 401 from Allen and same as the last, it is missing the mag and buttplate. I found a mag for the last one but no buttplate.
Anybody know where I can get buttplates? And what is up with that anyway, is there a buttplate gremlin out there?
