Hi everybody. I've been hunting with a Model 8 for many years now and thought it might be interesting to swap ideas with fellow 8 & 81 users. My Dad bought a used 81, 35 Rem, in 1954. He used it for a lot of years then passed it on to me. I've been using a 1914 Model 8 for the last 20+ years and have taken 19 deer, 2 bears and a moose with it. This year, in honor of it's age, I'm using my 1911 Model 8 in 30-30 Rem. I don't have any real collectors, just 5 shooters.

Hey Jiminmaine - It's nice to have another Remington Autoloader aficionado on the board. I think of all of my guns as shooters too. Though there are a couple I don't shoot very often and others I shoot more frequently. Please keep us posted on deer season up in Maine. You ever run into Erich Hutchins in Old Town?

Jim,
Welcome to the board! It sounds like you've got a lot of experience and some great shooting rifles. 19 deer, 2 bears, and 1 moose with a Model 8? Wow, do you have any photographs of those?
