I took my Model 1910 out to the range today to try out some new reloads using the Buffalo Arms 200 gr. SP. The rifle seemed to shoot them well. I also had a few Speer 210 gr. HPs that I resized to .407. Not quite as good a group as the Buffalos, but I am still playing with seating depth on those. Both loads used modified .414 brass and IMR4227. Functioning was perfect. I really enjoy shooting these old Winchesters. Thanks for looking, P O Emerson

I hope I can get mine to shoot as well. What kind of reloading press do you use? Do you recommend it? What is .414 brass?

My press is an RCBS jr that I bought new in 1972. I've been trying to wear it out ever since, but I don't think I'll live that long.
The .414 brass I referred to is Starline .414 Supermag. It is quite easy to modify into .401 WSL on the lathe and trimmer, and is dimensionally correct. Unfortunately, it is not common and Starline has not made any in a while. Backordered everywhere I have checked.
Hope you get yours shooting soon, POE

How was the recoil? I shoot my 1907s and they have very manageable recoil but I've always heard stories that the 401s were murder. Thanks!

Well, you can sure tell when it goes off. Not quite as hard as the Hammer of Thor. But, a simple slip on pad makes a lot of difference without modifying the stock. Recoil is probably about equal to a .30-06. POE
