I saw my 401 at a auction last year and even though I don't normally purchase older dated guns I saw this one and it appealed to me for some reason. It felt good in my hands, strong, a lil xtra weight and well it just felt good. I got it home and researched a little more to find the history on it and was surprised that it was made in 1911 according to the serial# (I wish they made all things this durable). I took it to a shop and had them check it over to determine whether it could be used and much to my delight it was. I picked up some ammo from buffalo arms (not cheap) and headed out to the range that following weekend. All I can say about firing the 401 was, d**n!, nice lil kick (glad I used a rubber pad) and the action when it slid back was smooth. It reminded me of a large single piston engine, just a solid "Ker-chunk" I only regret I didn't buy more ammo....lol Sadly I'm putting it on the market because I have my eye on a match pistol and I have a rule about having too much stuff. I'm glad I picked this up and I'll surely be sad when it's time to let it go. .....and a few pics. ed Attachments:

Looks like you picked up a nice one. It's in good shape for going on 100 years old. Welcome to the boards. Nice to have you around.
