Hi all, I just joined the forum last night. Having wanted a 1907 for some 30 years, I finally sprung for one, which is a well-worn 1907 deluxe. The checkering is smooth its so worn. I wonder if it can be recut along the same lines? Or maybe its best just to leave it in its unaltered 100 year old condition? Also, this rifle came with a Lyman 56 receiver sight. I'd never seen one up till now on any SLR I've looked at. Are they rare? I also bought a couple of spare 5 round mags, as well as I located a 10 rounder and its on its way to me. Of course, only ORIGINAL magazines for me. I don't care for the look of the aftermarket mags, as well as some say they may not function properly. Anyhow, I procured some 357 max brass (100) that had been lathe modified to work, along with 100 .351" FMJs. Now to find dies. My next search is for a 1910 .401. Happy to be a member here, and really enjoy reading WSL49er's posts.

Nice gun...I particularly like the Lyman peep sight. That's the first one of those I've ever seen on a Winchester Self-Loader. Have you been able to shoot it yet? They're fun to shoot.

Nice pics toroflow. I also have a deluxe 07. It has three tapped holes on the left side of the receiver for a peep sight. The old Lyman Ideal Handbooks, 1929 and 1932 show Model #41 which is different than the one on your rifle. Your's looks like a Model #48. Best guess is someone had the reciever or the sight base drilled. I've been playing with some Williams sights. Williams still has a peep sight listed for the 1907's. I have a 5D model I think I will adapt to the rifle since I can't get the rear buckhorn to stay still. Always wander at least 3/32 of an inch to the right.
