Would 8MM Mauser Stripper clips work as a subsititute?

Otay, recently bought a nice 81 in .35 Rem off GB and started looking for clips. Bob's $35 ea + shipping. OUCH! Bought 3 and cried. So I read here and there about ones from other rifles that supposedly work. Bought some of each mentioned. Don't fit. Either I can't read right or the posters (it's possible) don't know how to type the FULL name and model of the weapon they are talking about. So.... If at first you don't succeed. Found a listing on evilbay for clips from an 1891 Argentine Mauser. The original clips from Remington are slimmer in depth than any of the other clips I tried. The description of the 1891's indicated they were slimmer than "others". Guess what? They are an exact fit!!!!! They don't have the stops at the middle like the OEM clips, but a punch could fix that if you felt the need. They work fine with out the bumps. Some were a bit loose where use had opened up the channel. Those I fixed using a pair of channel locks to squeeze them around a cartridge. 100 year old clips, some had to be a bit wallered out. Here's a link to some: www.libertytreecollectors.com/p ... ategory=38 Should work for the .300 Sav too but I haven't tested that, so try at your own risk there.
