Hello , nice place for owners of these nice old guns. I have a 1910 and a 1907 and the 07 is outfitted with swivels. 2 screws hold the rear one on and the one that is on the forend is missing. Can anyone tell me about the factory front swivel on these guns? Is it attached inside the cap with a nut or is it brazed on? Does anyone have a close up picture of one , even better of one that is not attached? I plan on rebluing the 1907 sometime soon is there any special tools or tricks I should know about what lies in store for me? Thank you for the Forum Ron

My 1910 had been setup for a sling when I got it. The stock toe had a single swivel screwed in, the fore end cap was drilled and tapped but no swivel. I used an old military swivel and a 10/32 machine screw fit the tapped hole. It looks appropriately old. Maybe if the drilled fore end capon yours isn't tapped you could use a little nut inside to hold a screw , if it doesn't interfere with the reciprocating weight.

Hello OldShooter, my 1907 has the factory swivel on the butt , held by 2 screws, the cap is drilled and a shallow slot is milled but is missing the swivel. I could make it original if I knew what the swivel looked like and how it is attached. Yes I can put any swivel on it, I just wanted it correct since it is over a 100 years old. And to carry one of these heavy bast---- with out a silng for any distance is not funny. Thanks for you reply, would like to see some pictures of some 1907s and 10s. Ron

collectorsfirearms.com has several 1907s for sale including one with factory bayonet lug and sling swivels. Good photos. Look under 'miscellaneous Winchesters.'
