Just found this site and have my Grandfather's M1907 in .351 SL that he used for deer hunting in northern Minnesota.
I've cleaned the gun throughout, and luckily found a plastic wrapped full box of Winchester 180 gr SP ammo for the princely sum of $45 at a local GA fun show. Obviously I snapped it up immediately based on previously seen prices of around $100+. I'm assuming that the contents are original and not reloads.
My gun is very early with a SN of 1XX. Bore is very good and externally the gun is what I'd call good, but well used. I did have to repair a big missing chip in the butt stock on the right side of the receiver that did come out rather well.
Question? Anything special I should know about firing this old veteran? I kinda hate to break into the original box of ammo I got, and since I reload I'd consider using either 38 Special or 357 mag brass as mentioned elsewhere in this site.
I'm retired and located in Atlanta, GA.

Good to have you on the forum nepag! I've had several 351s over the years and bought another one recently. I have had some luck over the years finding small, odd lots of 351 ammo without the box at local gunshows. If the cartridges are pretty nice looking, and it is relatively recently manufactured ammo, that is what I wind up shooting. I try not to shoot ammo from nice collectible full boxes. Of course, I only shoot 351 a couple of times a year because I do no reload for that caliber. If you are able, post pictures of your 351.
