I'm trying to understand a family heirloom .35 Remington. The family folklore is the gun was custom built for a one-armed sheriff in Nebr. I can't tell if it's a 8 or 81. The gun is well engraved and bears no model number, only a s/n G37633. The s/n would indicate either 1916 (if model 8) or 1948 (if model 81). I shot the rifle a couple of times a year and was seeking instructions on disassembly for a good cleaning. Great to see so many good looking old Remingtons. Mine always gets many comments on the range.

Welcome aerodyn! I hope you enjoy your time on the board! The best advice I can offer is to post pictures of your family heirloom gun. That way the expert members of this board can better advise you about whether your gun is a Model 8 or 81. Plus we always like to see a pretty engraved Remington semi-auto rifle. My bet is on it being a Model 8, but without seeing it, I may be wrong. Factory engraved rifles always bring a nice premium in value.

Hello aerodyn, Howdy from TN. We seemed to have located a gem of a forum here. Good luck with the heirloom!
