I just helped a friend sight in his Remington Model 14 in .30 Remington. It shot great and we were able to zero it in pretty well. My question is...How is the Lyman peep sight "locked in" after it is adjusted? The adjustment ring just spins too freely. Is there a part missing? The only suggestion I had was to put a dollup of clear nail polish along the edge of the ring. Thanks for any help. Cappy

After thinking about it and looking at other tang sights, my guess is that there used to be a second knurled ring that sat on top of the one used to adjust the height. Maybe it was removed to allow the peep to sit lower so a proper zero could be attained. Anyone know what model sight this is and where I can get parts? Thanks.

I think it is a Lyman R14 peep sight. Now parts...that's another story.
