I know these are still in production but I have always wanted one and I found a No.1B new in box from 1978 with all the paperwork rings still wrapped and bagged and pristine. I was considering a new one but since I found a semi-vintage older one still new and I couldn't pass it up. New ones are around $1000.00 and I got out the door for $770.00 not cheap but as good as I could ask for considering. The clincher is that I am going on a sage rat (Beldings ground squirrel) hunt next month and i sold my other 22-250 to my Dad so I had to get it. Does anyone have any experience with the No.1 rifles. I know that they are usually not considered as accurate as a bolt gun but I already have a 243 and a 25-06 in bolt action that are tack drivers and I think the No 1's are totally cool.

kirk,
I don't think you'll be dissapointed. My father's got a No.1H Tropical in 375H&H and it shoots great. That's the only #1 i've shot but I was impressed.
