Hi guys,
I was checking out Cabela's gun library and they're trying to sell a Model 141-D peerless grade for $2899. From the pictures it looks to be in pretty good condition. What do you guys think about the price? This is the first engraved 141 I've seen for sale and they seem to be pretty scarce. Anyone know of any other collectors/sources for buying one at a fair price? I'm kinda in the market for one since I gave my standard grade 141 to my cousin and would like to replace it with an engraved upgrade. Thanks a lot for any input.

Usually Cabela's is near the top end of Retail price on guns. I would think a D-grade gun would be hard to find for less than $2000. Condition and buyers desire to own usually control the price guns in higher grades. I have seen some Cabela's high priced guns drop in price if they sit too long but that may depend on the local gun library manager. Right now most stores are doing inventory for taxes, if things sell before the tax inventory is set they can save on taxes, but I would not bank on them passing it to you. YMMV

It is hard to judge the market for Anniversary and special production guns. The market for these guns is a lot smaller and for this gun in particular it is only one of a 5-gun set so if the buyer really wants the set it will be expensive and difficult to acquire all the guns. On the other hand deluxe guns like the Peerless grades stand alone and will fit in any collection of that type gun.

Well, I kept my eye on it for about a year, sold off a motorcycle to get some gun funds, got Cabelas to come down $500 and now have myself a nice .35 141D from 1947. Can't wait to take it out to camp and hunt deer with it. This season the Model 8 is going, but next years it's the 141. Gotta luv those old guns!
