I haven't found a Model 14 yet either, but like you I really like them. My 141, the successor to the 14 is chambered for 35 Remington. Like the Model 8 and 81, the differences are in small details. The 141 handles like a fine bird gun and is a great hunting rifle. Ther 14 and 141 also are also take-down rifles like the 8/81, a feature I find useful for traveling.

I have 2, one in 30rem and one in 25 rem. I do not have any 141s but the 14s are sweet. I also have these calibers in the model 8. I am a .25 rem reloader since the 60s.

A friend of mine has a 141 in 30 Remington. that is REALLY NICE. I've tried to talk him out of it, but he likes it too much.

My 141 in 35 Remington...what a neat gun. Has a swing away Pachmyer scope mount that adds to the "Neat" factor.

35Rem,
Very cool 141! I like the swing-away scope mount. Mine isn't set-up that way, but she still gets the job done. Mine has a Weaver 2.5X in Weaver mounts. The front mount is on the barrel. I assume that was/ is a common way to scope up a 141.

I know you've seen that one before. I've about wore it out. It really deserves a new picture. I've gotten a better camera since that pic.

My 141 is in .35 Remington, and is a sweet little rifle. I love the way it handles, and it came with a tip-off scope mount and 1960's era 3-9 scope. I was going to take it boar hunting this past summer, but Mrs. Monkeyboy said I was only alowwed to bring one toy with me to Texas. The .300 Savage 99 had been waiting longer, so it got to go. Next time maybe... Especially since I have had time to develop a decent load for it. -Mb

GREAT BUY! GREAT CALIBER! If you go to the Remington Society of America web page and click on manufacturing dates you will find the location of the barrel code and a table to look up the date of manufacture. The two screw holes on the back of the receiver are for a Lyman or Marbles peep sight. The sight will run $100 to $200 on Fleabay. They are sought after by sight collectors as well as owners of old Remingtons.

Mitch, what a steal you got on that one. I have been eyeballing a 141 in 30 Rem for a couple years, that has a rubber recoil pad (so its not even original), and the guy won't take a penny less than $350.00, so I have yet to score on one. As far as the election goes, I, like most gun owners vote conservative and being one who votes based on biblical morals over other priorities was caught in a "catch 22" with my vote essentially going for Sarah Palin. Now I would have voted McCain even without her but I was less than exited when he won the primary. To be honest I voted Mike Huckabee in the primary (although even he doesn't quite align with my views as well as I hoped). I am not overly broken up about the outcome as I could see the writing on the wall when so many were willing to overlook Obama's anti American views in favor of making history. Once people refuse the truth as God gives it to us, he turns them over to the desires of their hearts to a path of destruction and they begin believing the lies that come out of the mouth of God's enemies. Now we know that biblically speaking, things have to get much much worse before they will get better so although I am not happy about the election results and I hoped to be spared this kind of political environment in my lifetime, I chalk it up as another step towards what God has told us was going to happen in the first place, and that gives me peace in troubled times. Disclaimer.....sorry for getting sidetracked away from the intent of this post, and I know all do not agree with my biblical perspective, but that is what still makes America the greatest country in the world today with the ability to speak ones mind without fear. On a good note, some of the Senate races are going better than expected for the conservatives with a few exceptions. I see that in my home state of Oregon, Gordon Smith is so far squeaking by and I hope that holds up. And I am going to celebrate if the very small victory squeaked out over Al Franken in Minnesota holds up as I have no tolerance at all for Hollywood liberals. Gotta love Clint Eastwood and Tom Selleck for being on the "right" side of that one.

Amen Kirk.
Thanks for putting a "higher" perspective on it. I, like a lot of folks, believed that the end times and things getting worse would be down the road - not in my life time. (I think it's called the head in the sand approach!) Post-Christian America(ns) certainly deserves what we are getting. I was just praying (wishing, against facts) that we would be spared the bullet one more time.
Even in the rain, I think today is a good day to go punch some holes in some paper! Maybe those things followed me home, just for days like this!

That is a great gun, and an incredible price. Let us know when it was made. Also, remember that even though it has a tubular magazine, you can use sptizers in it because of the way the rounds are offset with that spiral groove. I have never bothered, as I can get more powder in the case with a blunt little round nosed bullet while keeping the OAL short enough to function in my action. I figure it doesn't matter that much to me, but others might want to try it...

Actually, I believe that Remington backed down on the use of spitzers in that magazine. But you do not need to worry about point soft points and round noses. At that time most levers were using flat point bullets. Somebody correct me if I over stated something.

Mitch,
Congrats on becoming a member of the 141 Club! That is a really nice looking rifle and a great deal. Let us know how she shoots.

I have seen people go both ways on the whole spitzer thing with the 14/141. I don't because I can get almost an extra 100 fps without them. If I use them and get them to the correct OAL, I either have to cut back on the powder, or compress the load. Neither of which make much sense to me. Besides, .35 Remington just doesn't "look" right with anything other than a round nose bullet.
