I want to show my Remington M14R. I get it some years ago and it is very accurate, 1.5 MOA. It was made on 1919 and have both safeties the thump safety and the trigger safety. By the way, I have heard the the R means riot as it was inended for prison guards. Martin

I like that very much, especially with the carbine having both the safeties. One of the guns I would like very much to have would be a 14R.

It looks like your crossbolt safety was a modification of the plug used by the factory. I have seen some like that, and others will have a regular crossbolt. It seems the thumbnail safety was quite unpopular and later guns left the factory with both types. I have a database of information on over 850 model 14s and 14½s and would be interested in getting the serial of yours so I could record the information on it. If you want to contact direct, instead of putting the serial for all to see, contact me at hemphill@gvtel.com

Rem 1425, I have a model 14 1/2 in .44-40. Beautifful little gun and good shooter. It has no collector value because I reblued it and refinished the stocks-but thats okay because its not going anwhere anyhow! Ill post a picture of it shortly.
My question is did they make some with a cheek piece moulded into the stock? The stock on mine fits perfectly but the wood is a slightly different color than the forestock and it almost reminds me of a european hardwood- and it has a cheekpiece. If it was a replacement it is the best I've ever come across and must have cost a lot at the time.
I was told they used them in the prisons up here- specifically in .44-40 because they held a lot of those stubby little shells. But this is the rifle version not a carbine,
Just curious...
