There is a model 81 with a removable mag for sale at the Kittery Trading Post in Kittery, Maine. www.ktp.com. Price $425. Now before you all get excited, I took a look at it today. The metal is in very good condition. There are a couple of spots with slight pitting but not objectionable. The bluing is original and in good condition. It is starting to fade a little but again not objectionable. Now for the good part. The buttstock has been refinished by bubba. It has been sanded but was left with noticable ridges and valleys. Lousy sanding job. The forestock is in good shape but is not in its original form. Plastic butt plate shoud be aluminum since this is a 1947 vintage rifle. If someone wanted to re-sand the buttstock again it would be a good clean rifle. Either that or find a buttstock/forearm replacement. They would not move on the price so I passed on it. If you are interested, call them and they will put it on a 7 day hold at no charge. They will send pictures if requested. They are not good at giving accurate info over the phone depending on who you get to talk to. The have another 81 with replaced wood and new refinish. Not a bad looking rifle at under $400. There is also a model 8. Take a look at their site.

I called on it also and got some pictures to boot. I agree with Silvermino. Butt stock has been worked over rather poorly and the for-end is not original. Pictures I got did not include the magazine and I'm waiting hear back from them as to whether it comes with the gun. The rifle is also missing the bolt/operating handle so I'm curious if other parts have been scavenged. I'll let you know what I hear.

Is it a Krieger or a Police Eqmt model?

According to the Henwood Book, the Krieger mags were fitted to each gun and may or may not work in another gun. Just an FYI for any buyers, if they try to play games with the price of the mag.

The mag and the bolt handle do come with the rifle. They keep those locked up because they tend to grow legs.
