Have been loading for the .351 for several years now.Had a problem recently that I never had before.I am using RCBS .351 dies.Never had a problem until the last time I went to reload my .351 cases. The cases have been fired three or four times. When I went to put the cases in the sizing die the last time I reloaded, they were very hard going in the die, before they always went in quite easy.Tried a bit more lube,no better. After about four cases one stuck in the die and I had the shell holder slip over the case head and stick in the die. Had a friend get the stuck case out.Cleaned the die,but still no go.It seemed like the cases were too big for the die.Took a 9 mm die and the cases would go in it as they should. This however left a small "bump" at the bottom of the cases. Then put the cases in the .351 die to smooth out the bump.
Anyone have this problem before or know what might cause it?The .351 dies always worked perfect before.

What cases are you using? Original .351 brass or reformed brass? I only use .357 Mag brass, with 38/357 dies. Many years ago I bought a set of "special order" Lee .351 dies on ebay. The .357 Mag cases did not work in those dies (I returned them and went back to the 38/357 dies). If you bought the cases online they probably were made from .357 MAX brass. Did you measure the diameter of the rims? Maybe the rims were trimmed too much when they were made and have worn more from using. Have you tried reloading a case without resizing?

Cases are were new Jamison brass, that I have loaded 4 or 5 times before without any trouble.Did not try loading any without resizing. As stated above ,if I put them in the 9 mm sizing die they will go in.They leave a small bump on the lower end of the cases, that is removed when I then put the cases in the 351 sizing die.

Had similar problem last week loading .351 WSLR. Some, not all original cases would not size in Redding .351 die. Used a 38 Special die to size cases first then ran them through the .351 die. Used .351 seating die for seat and crimp then ran though a 9mm RCBS taper crimp die. Had about a dozen altered 357 Max cases, they would size OK w/ .351 die. Chamber oversized maybe ? Old brass stretched a bit ? Worked out fine. Went to range next day and fired 30 rounds no problem. Nice grouping at 40 yards. Try a 38 Special or 357 Mag die, it is a straight walled case. (mm Para has a slight taper.

Have not shot my .351 for quite some time. Will see about picking up a set of used 38 Special/357 Mag dies to try the next time loading.Since you had the same trouble with Redding dies and I used RCBS dies,it would not appear to be a die related problem.

Did you round up a 38/357 sizing die, and if so, did it correct the problem cases ?
