Anyone here have experience shooting cast bullets out of an 8/81. I have a brand new Lyman mould set I got in trade and it is just over 200 grain bullet with a gas check. Ive got just about everything else I need to cast with the exception of a thermometer, so I need some loads to use when I make up some bullets.

Howdy Kirk I load a 204gr gas checked bullet (Lyman 358315) in the 35 Rem. This is a light load that is just strong enough to operate my model 8, It seems to be accurate at 100 yards but I haven't gotten around to testing it at longer ranges yet.
35 Remington Case Winchester large rifle primer 22.0 grains(Twenty Two) of IMR 4198 204 grain GC lead bullet This load came from the Lyman #45 cast bullet handbook, They suggest 20.0 grains as a starting load and Max out at 27.0 grains With old rifles I'm a firm believer in starting out light and working my way up. Hope this helps you out 14 Delta

Thanks for the info. That is exactly the bullet I will be using, so I will build up a similiar load and see what shoots best.
