Hello all, Just found this website I have a first year 1907 that my grandfather bought in 1919 and hunted the adirondack reguon of NY with his entire life my father re stocked it in the late 80s and we have been reloading and shooting ever since. Picked up a Model 8 in 35 rem a couple years ago just so I had one.

Welcome to the forum! Hope you enjoy it. You don't happen to have any old pictures of your grandfather and the gun?

Grandpa was 16 when he bought it and carried it every year from 1919 until 1982 when he had to retire from hunting I'd hate to guess at how many whitetail fell to it but he always got his deer he had the chance to shoot several bears while carrying it but he said every time he just enjoyed watching them wander off and enjoyed not having to drag them out. When my dad retired from the Navy in 1986 it became his backup gun and put even more venison in the freezer. I will retire from the Navy next summer and it will be my primary gun untill I can say I got at least one with it. Have several pictures of him and his 07 at my parents house will have to scan them next time I am on leave
