Just picked up my first model g, all matching numbers in three spots (7662), don't know if there is supposed to be more. When i depress the bolt hold open button it does not work. Is the button worn or something else internally and is it an easy fix. I would think since this button has to be depressed manually to hold open the bolt, once the last shot is fired the bolt returns home.

The button is an easy fix, but it is also very easy to break. Some of these guns did not even have one.
What caliber is your gun?

I took the butt plate off today and it is all black (japaned I think) and has 147 stamped at the bottom inside rim. On the butt stock is a large uppercase B and a penciled 147 by the upper screw. Since the gun is number 7662 is this the original butt stock and what grade wood is the stock
