Just thought I would share this one, since I saw one last month and previously had a student do a project on one. The pistol is a 2mm kolibri, marketed as a concealed self-defense pistol for the European gentleman that would fit in a coin pocket. It had enough muzzle energy to penetrate more than 20 sheets of paper but not a suit jacket (proven by one of my students) and had an effective range of 2 meters, it makes the .25 ACP (at one time carried by many European police agencies) look like a Dirty Harry hand cannon. There is no record of anyone ever getting shot with one, although thousands were sold through 1938.

that little pistol looks like it would be hard to handle, load, and aim. I think it's real cool your student took the time to test the penetration of the round. 2mm, is that round essentially a primer pushing the projectile without any powder charge? Very interesting, thanks for sharing the picture.

We never had a round to examine nor a weapon to actually photograph.
He did a real short documentary on it (it had flawed audio, or else it would be on youtube with the rest of my student's stuff). He just got the mass and muzzle velocity of the bullet and did a test with an engineering student. A suit jacket backed with cardboard was not penetrated by a 2mm projectile launched at the same speed. Lots of science wrong with the test, but not invalid, and it would have made a good video.
