Just picked up my first Model 8 over the weekend. Its chambered in .32 Remington. Amazing original condition with excellent wood and metal finishes. This gun was purchased about 30 years ago by a friend and its been sitting in his safe since then. Serial number is 62475 so it seems it isn't a really early example. My guess is somewhere in the 1930's?

Doesn't look like my photos worked. I'll have to try later when I get home.

clackinator,
That's a nice looking rifle. By the serial number your rifle was probably made in late 1929 or early 1930. On the left side of the barrel jacket just forward of the receiver should be a lettered date code. This signifies the month and year of your rifle's assembly.
God bless, Cam

Thanks for the info! I'm glad you can see the photos. For some reason I can't see them on my computer. Just a bunch of writing. I found a box of .32 ammo. Ouch! Not cheap. I'll definitely be keeping the spent brass for reloading!

I was told today that the rifle has significantly less value as it has four small holes drilled on the left side for a scope mount. Its a shame because besides those four holes, the rifle looks great. Any idea how much this affects the value?
