Hi all... accidentally found this forum and am happy as punch. I recently lucked out and found what I think is a very nice 1910 SL. Then a friend wanted to sell me a Ruger 454 Casull for $600. It had only 18 rounds fired but was still too much, so he offered to throw in a couple 1910 SL magazines... woohoo! I now own a Casull and two extra 401 clips. I was Googling around looking for values on the clips and found this forum. It just keeps getting better.
I've ordered a framed Winchester ad poster of the 401 SL and I have a bid on a nice single gun rack on EBay. The picture and SL are going up on my living room wall. =o)
I see you guys want pics... I'll try to figure out that part.

Welcome to the forum. You will find all kinds of interesting people to confer with here who appreciate classic semi-autos, like your .401. Those clips are going for around $100 apiece now. Are you going to shoot that .401?

Are you going to shoot that .401? Thank you. I doubt I'll shoot it. Most likely it will permanently grace my wall. I guess if you click on the above little pictures it will show the big one on PhotoBucket.

That is a very nice .401. Excellent condition. What kind of peep sight? If you're going to keep it as a non-shooter, you ought to consider selling one or both of your extra mags. Seems like people are always crying about looking for, and not being able to find, .401 mags.

If anyone needs a mag let me know. The peep sight is a Lyman marked "PAT JULY 16.07". Here's a pic (sheesh, needs some cleaning)

awgrizzly, I would be interested to hear how you like that framed Winchester ad poster, I see them on Gunbroker auction for $125 or so. I'm too afraid to spend that much and not be happy with it! Thanks, Ken.

Thanks, Ken. I haven't gotten it yet but I have hopes. I got a notice yesterday that they shipped it... I ordered it framed so it took a while. I bought it on a web site called Winfield Galleries. They have several choices of sizes and paper and can be had for as little as $35 (11"x22") unframed. Framing there costs quite a bit. You can do it yourself a lot cheaper. www.winfieldgalleries.com/servlet/Detail?no=333Hope you like it, Don

Thanks, Ken. Ken, here is the final product so you can see how the picture looks. Note the texture of the print. I had it done on canvas. On paper it would have a smooth texture and covered with glass. Also consider my rotten photography. =o) Click pic to see a larger image

awgrizzley have you got a price on those 401 mags yet? Sorry it's been so long. I haven't thought about the 401 mags but will sell them if someone wants one. Folks here said they go for around $100 ea. Is that fair?

Blackdog, My '05 is barrelled for .30 carbine and shot the 3 rounds I got with it just fine. I was just pointing it at a snowbank so have no idea of how accurate it is. I know that Winchester developed the .30 carbine ammo in the late 30's and 40's and I assume they used the self loader rifles they already were making in the testing? But I haven't been able to confirm this. Deerhide
