This same rifle was sold out of the collection of Eldon Owens in 2004 by Julia Auctions.
The auction listing was as such:
"Lot 803. SOLD$12,650.00 *ENGRAVED WINCHESTER MODEL 1905 SEMI AUTO RIFLE. Cal. 35 SL SN 9097 Scarce engraved rifle with 22" tapered rnd bbl, ivory bead pedestal front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. It has highly figured center crotch cut American walnut wood with "H" style checkering, capped semi-pistol grip stock with Winchester embossed hard rubber buttplate. It has factory sling eyes. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle as having $6 engraving in style #7. It indicates it was shipped January 15, 1906 and returned for repair in February 1906. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbl retains 96-98% strong bright original blue with minor sharp edge wear. Receiver retains 94-96% strong original blue, slightly dulled and thin on the forward edges. Wood is sound, showing moderate wear and retains most of its original oil finish. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. TSling eye in the forend cap has become detached and accompanies in a bag"
Later, this was spotted as listed by Merz Antique Firearms with a list price of $17,500.

I've got a Win SL Mod 1905 and I want to break it down for cleaning. Last time I did it (years ago) I recall all I had to do was break it and push to spring to detent turn it ... and the bolt slithered out... w/o problem. Not so now. What's the trick??? Thanks ... dumbass
