I bought my model 8 at an auction several years ago and never fired it. I bought a few boxes of old 35 Remington ,(200gr) at a few gun shows I went to. Also I had some other old rounds from my grandfathers old marlin lever action in 35 Remington. So this past weekend I felt like trying out my model 8 and seeing what this 99 year old gun can do! All I can say is wow! The recoil of this thing is amazing! 35 Remington seems like a very stout round! I fired all the rounds I had and had a great time shooting it. I have a question about some of my fired brass. Some of my older looking brass had a small split in the side of throat of the brass. I think it was just old brass ? Newer looking brass was fine. My other question is I have a small crack in my forearm. Should I try to find a new one and save wear on my old one and set it aside? I don't want to make it worse. ;D

You could repair the crack (many of the forearms I've seen were cracked) with Acraglas.

Thanks I may try that , I was thinking of gorilla gluing it or something. I really enjoyed shooting my model 8 , still super happy about it!
