I just joined the group this morning and my "membership card" is the Winchester 1907 I just purchased. I overpaid as usual and I'll be straight up with you all on the price ($1150.00, tax, shipping, out the door.). I'm a collector with a C&R and like mine in high condition and found out in a hurry that becomes a bit difficult with 07. It is a later model, made in 1953 according to the seller but I'm not sure on that date. It has the hooked knob, steel butt plate, sling swivels and 5 shot mag. I'm going to tell you what you already know about the 07 and that is it is one fine piece of craftsmanship. Perfect metal to wood fit, close tolerances with fine metal finish throughout. No manufacturing shortcuts, no compromises, just first class work. Reminds me a lot of the Auto 5's that I have in my collection. This is my first auto rifle and this looks like the place to learn about them so I'm all eyes!

Welcome to the forum! What's the ol' saw about paying for collectable guns? "....I didn't pay too much...I just bought it too early." You may have paid more than what some of would have, but one day a high condition late model '07 like yours will be worth more than what you paid for it. They are cool as heck..., aren't they. I like my vintage 1910 beater. Looks like heck but shoots like it came out of the box yesterday. I've owned three now and thought they were all great guns. Please, if you get the chance, post pictures of your new acquisition. We all appreciate fine guns and I don't remember too many pictures of late model 1907s on the forum.

Thanks very much for the warm welcome, Hardrada.
As soon as I figure out the photo thing, I'll post a couple of them.
As far as the gun appreciating, I just hope I live long enough. All kidding aside, I have never really viewed my guns as an investment but rather as a neat thing to pass on to my two sons someday. Definitely while I'm still around to enjoy it.
