i watch this fourm often and i am learning a lot. i have become fond of auto loading rifles. a few years ago i came across a mod 8 standard. never saw one before but had to have it. thats how it started. not to many around these parts, very rare. also found a 1907 wsl. very rareto say the least. iam not a collector just a hunter and shooter. in pa. you are not allowed to use auto loaders to hunt with. today i came across a mod. 81 standard serial # 56xxx. it has a non detachable mag and the number 20 stamped on the left side of the trigger guard. oh its in the 300 sav. i guess my question is does this info sound like a legitimate 81. or ? any input would be appreciated. thanks gary

Sounds like a righteous Remington 81 to me. Pictures are worth a 1000 words.

The detachable magazine 81s are all conversions and there are some guys on the boards who really like them and will pay a little more for one of them.
