Here is Texas Ranger "Lone Wolf" Gonzales' modified Special Police rifle. One of the big auction houses is auctioning it soon.

Now that is a great looking LE rifle, if only it had a selector switch...

Hey Cozy, I've got an old handle off a handsaw if you want to make your own TR Special. A couple of big wood screws and some duc tape and you'd be in bidness. ;D

That rifle should bring a premium at auction. It is a genuine piece of Texas history.

I've been interested and reading up on the TX Rangers for some time - ever since my first Model 8 after reading the story of Frank Hamer's crew taking out Bonnie and Clyde.
Was wondering if the Police Special as sold yet? And/or what price it went for or where is it for sale? Thanks

I thought I had lost this article, in my last computer crash, but I just found it. It is regarding the sale of "MTG" Manuel Trazazas Gonzaullas "El Lobo Solo", the rifle was to sell on Saturday, September 08, 2007.
Unfortunate I did not follow up on it's sale or not, forgot to copied down who was selling it or from what auction house, nor did I save the pictures - but it sounds like the same rifle.
The seller at that time wrote a long article about it and made these claims along with others: - The rifle was fitted with the forward pistol grip from a Thompson SMG/ Carbine, which has been cut and beveled to fit on the existing forearm and screwed into place, this would help standardize the feel of this rifle and a Thompson SMG. The standard magazine has also been replaced with a curved 15-round magazine from the Peace Officer Equipment Co. - All the major parts aside from the magazine have been stamped with a "MTG" monogram.
I'm not making any statements as to it's providence, sale, etc. Nor do I live in a "free state" where I could own it if I had the funds. Just a curious (drooling) bystander that would like to know what happen the first time, if it is for real, and sold this time?

I saw this gun listed on the auction house's advertisement. It's funny, but the ad shows the gun mixed in with AR-15s, Galils and other Assault Weapons. The caption reads to the effect: "A selection of Black Rifles". I guess they consider an 80 year old rifle to be an "Assault Weapon". I hope no one in Washington subscribes to that idea.
The auction is scheduled for 09/11-09/12. I too am interested to see what price it fetches.

Did anyone see the final price on this jewel? I'd like to know what it sold for. Any of our members here end up with it?
