Hey everyone I discovered the Remington Model 8 rifle this last August on my 33rd birthday(Aug. 8). I was walking around Williams Gun Sight's used rifle area, trying to pick out a nice birthday present for myself. I looked them all over and didnt see anything that really stuck out so I left without buying anything. I got home and was just thinking to myself about those guns I looked at earlier at the gun store when I remembered this strange "shot-gun looking rifle" that I was checking out earlier....and that got me thinking.... I went right back to the gun store and bought #2457 for $250.00 and a box of Rem. .35 and the rest is history. Recently I bought my 2nd Model 8, a mint looking safe queen with the steel cresent butt-plate and period correct Lyman peep sight. This week I was offered my first chance to buy a "Super 8" police rifle, with the 20rnd clip in unfired condition for $6000. So....with that being said, anyone want a lever action .45lc 94' Winchester, or a Walther automatik toggle 12 gauge? haha. I really am going to liqudate some of my babies in an attempt to buy that Super 8 though, wish me luck. OK I'll wrap it up, that's my story in a nut-shell at this time. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Before you drop 6 grand on a "Police" Model 8, I suggest you post any questions you have about the gun on this forum. There are several members that are truly "experts" on these guns. I recently purchased an 81 Police in 95% condition for less than half that. The reason I bought it was because of the information I obtained here. The members of the forum answered all my questions and kept me from blowing $2400 on a "Misrepresented" police rifle that was advertised a few weeks ago. Good luck with your quest.

morningstar808,
Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the world of Remington Model 8 rifles. The look and feel of these rifles does tend to grow on a man. I'll bet you will really enjoy that grand old rifle and the 35 Remington cartridge is a perfect match for a woods rifle. Let us know how she shoots.
