I'm a retired military fellow; former Marine aviator and army infantryman. Spent 30 years "in" active and reserve.
I've collected guns all of my life, and except for a burglery or two I still have most of them. My collection is primarily military rifles, from the Revolution to present. So I have a gun from each war, or a representative gun from each. I also own many guns used by our various enemies.
I've got a dozen Civil War guns, rifles and pistols. I own all of the trap doors, a Hall, others.
I own a Garand, M-1 Carbine, M100 Winchester, Model 81, AR15 HBAR, so I have some oldish semi autos. People hate those M100's but I like mine. It's a 308.
I like talking guns, old guns, military weapons, mausers, etc.
I've got a scad of old pistols too.
I also own an interesting collection of Lincoln County War images. I have Sallie Chisum's personal/private collection of Lincoln County War tintypes. You want to talk Billy the Kid, I'm your man.

Welcome logjam. I tell you...I don't really know that much about Billy the Kid...but I've been to Lincoln and seen the museums and stuff and the whole era is fascinating. Man, that place has got it all history wise. You ever seen one of those H&R semi-auto rifle in .308?

Welcome logjam. I tell you...I don't really know that much about Billy the Kid...but I've been to Lincoln and seen the museums and stuff and the whole era is fascinating. Man, that place has got it all history wise. You ever seen one of those H&R semi-auto rifle in .308? H&R semi auto rifles? My M-14 was an H&R. Are you talking about one of those semi autos that looks like the Parker Hale? Man, I haven't seen one of those rifles for years; like 20 years. As for Billy the Kid, I found Sallie Chisum's personal/private collection of tintypes from the BTK era. The photos were owned by Sallie's niece. When she died the family held a yard sale and sold off much of her stuff. These pictures were in that lot. None of the photos have ever before been published, but I have shared some on various sites. I have unknown and very clear pictures of Billy the Kid, Tom Folliard, Juan Patron, Doc Scurlock (maybe), Frank Coe, George Coe, their wives Helena and Phoebe Coe, Sheriff Wm. Brady, Lily Casey Klasner, Matilda Davis (Richard Brewer's girlfriend), Sallie Chisum, her elder sister Mary Branch Chisum, her mother, Ara Chisum, her sons (several pictures) Fred and John Chisum, Sallie's two brothers (several images) Willi and Walter Chisum. I have Walter's brother in law, O.H. Simpson and his wife and child. I've got a clear picture of Alexander McSween; the existing, known picture is poorly retouched. I've got John S. Chisum and his counsins the Towry family and their children. Anyway, I've got 60 all told. I have spoken with Walter Chisum's (Sallie's brother) great grandson. I have been to his ranch and seen his collection of Chisum family aritifacts. I have also shown them to his father and he recalls seeing the pictures. I have therefore traced the Sallie Chisum family to close to where I live, they still live here. Provenance is the key here. I am not trying to sell these pictures, but I would like to share them. Billy the Kid was actually a nice looking young man. I have two unknown photos of him. I do not have a photo of Pat Garrett, or of Sallie's father, James Chisum. Nor do I have Pitzer, Sallie's other uncle. Oh, I have Dirty Dave Rudabaugh....least I think it's he. The only other photo of him is the one of his detached head. I've shown these photos to the known experts. They are skeptical. Well of course they are! There are scores of fraudulant photos of BTK being spread around and some have sold for a chunk of change. I've been to Lincoln many times, and to that Billy the Kid museum in Fort Sumner. They have copies of these photos, but they are skeptical too. I can send some to you if you want to see them. Logjam

H&R Ultra Auto rifle, saw one of these at the last gunshow in Grand Rapids, priced around $600-700. Made in the 70's? Here's an image of one in .243 Winchester from AuctionArms.com; really reminds me of the styling of the H&K 300/630/770/940 rifles.

Yeah...that's the one. I've appreciated those since I was a kid. Just wish they came in some other calibers besides .243 and .308. I got to get me one of those one of these days.

Logjam,
Welcome to the forum. Your photos do sound very interesting. If you could post a few here, it would be appreciated. I have long wanted a good Trapdoor Springfield. I'm a real fan of the grand old 45-70 cartridge. A friend of mine (deceased) had a Model 100 Winchester in 308 and he killed a lot of deer with that rifle. He thought highly of it.
