I remember I first saw a Model 16 about the time I got into Model 8s. I thought they were fascinating looking little .22s and I still do. I still do not own one....yet. They shoot the .22 Remington Auto cartridge, which is a completely different cartridge from any other .22 rim fire. In my typically "Bassackwards" way of doing things, I have several boxes of .22 Rem Auto ammo now, a couple of which will be sacrificed when I do snag a Model 16. I just got to shoot that gun when I get one...
$395 seems a little high to me. I'll always kick myself for not buying one I saw in Albuquerque for $180 a couple of years ago. I think that if you look long enough, you're going to find someone who wants to get rid of a Model 16 for a more reasonable price because of the specialized ammo. They can easily be portrayed as a "white elephant". And if you want to shoot it, they are. I've seen several recently that were being touted as having been converted to .22 LR. Either that or the seller may have been "deceptive" or ignorant of the type of ammo the Model 16 does use. Anyway....IMHO at $395, I'm not biting on that one...now what you do with your money is your business....My pain threshold for a Model 16 would be around $250.
