I have just purchased a Remington model 8. I need to know when it was made. The serial # is 12325. There is an "S" above the Serial #. There is a "P" with a circle around it below the serial #. I think it is an early model as there is nothing on it that says "Remington model 8." I think it was made in 1909. Anyone know for sure?

If it is a Remington Model 8, then your rifle #12325 was probably made in 1908. If it's a Remington Model 81, then it's from 1940.

Hi folks, I'm new to the group. I have a f.n. 1900 in .35 cal. Ser# 1185, it was made in 1910 and purchased by my great grandfather in 1911. About 40k made , mostly sold in Europe. The model 8 parts are not all compatible with the fn, my dad found that out when he bought a model 8 made in 1937.

The ser # does not agree, the 1st ser# was 1, in 1910, 5he model 8 was a n american marketing tool as the fn's were not popular here. Hope this helps. I would post a pic but don't kn9w how
