does anyone have a vintage scope set up on their 1910? I would like to hear what you have, especially if it is period correct to 1910-1940 or so. Pix would be appreciated. What scope and mount combinations would be appropriate to that time frame? Good source for vintage scopes and mounts?

Do you have Henwood's book? Scope mounts he notes are the Buehler #60 one piece scope base, Weaver makes the #20A (rear base) and the #17 (front base), the old Chilford Saturn Boone scope with #109 base, and Williams SM-760/40/42 side mount.

thanks for the reply, I'm afraid i'm a little late for Henwood, last copy i saw was north of $800, the rifle cost me $325.00! I passed on a set of Stith mounts for the 07/10 some time ago, kind of wished i'd picked them up, very cool looking, the rear mount fit into the sight dovetail. Don't know how stable the arrangement would be. I dislike the side mount idea in general, always has that "slapped on" look to it and plenty of holes in the receiver. Any good books on vintage scopes in general? That might be a good start.
