I just got my hands on my first Standard Arms rifle. It is a Model M in .35 Rem. Seems to be in really good condition with some slight pitting in the bore, but with nicely defined rifling still. I have some questions. How do you take the bolt out? What is the little nut for on the front of the pump tube? It would seem to me that it is crucial to take down the pump tube and to get the slides and bolt out. There are two lines on the little square nut and one is marked with an L. I assume that is for Locked? I have seen the disassembly of the model G and was wondering if the front pump tube hanger came away like the model g's gas block?
I would love to be able to get it apart for a really good cleaning. I'll post pictures when I get it all cleaned and back together. Oh, if anyone is wanting to know it is serial number 1150.

Ian Take down is just like a model G. Make sue it is empty, dicharge the firing pin, since you do not have a take down tool, insert a phillips screw driver into the hole behind the trigger guard, push the lower reciever forward and the top and bottom come apart. The rest of the dissambly is evident from there. Ed
