Another John Browning design. This one fell in favor with Theodore Roosevlet, also. This is reproduction from 1995.

I was over at my Uncle's visiting last night, we went through his old pictures and we found a real classic of an 1895 beside a bull moose. No idea who the guy is or the caliber but they sure are interesting rifles!
So is this your rifle? What cal? How does it shoot?

I believe T.R. had one chambered for 405 Winchester. He called it "Big Medicine."
35Rem, now you have done it! My "itch" for a Model 1895 was under control, but now it's flared up on me! Just viewing your photo was all it took!

tnrifleman, maybe I can give you the "fix" you need. LOL
I was over at my little gunshop and at the counter was a wierd looking box of Dominion ammo. I picked it up and it said 35 Winchester. Had heard of it before but never seen any. Opened the box up and by gracious that was quite a behemoth of a cartridge. Looked like a 35 Whelan would fit inside it! Wouldn't you know it the fellow has an 1895 at home with a pile of brass, dies and moulds. It was almost more than I could take. If I win a lottery I will be going back and seeing if I could have a look at "said beasty". What a moose cannon.

Oh yeah, she's mine. .30-06 Like I said, it's the ones they made in 1995 as a Centennial Model.

I, too, have one of the 1995 incarnations of the Winchester Model 1895. I know it was intended as something of a 'collector' gun, but I just couldn't resist firing it. There's just something about a .30-06 in a lever-action! Here's some photos of my other Model 1895, of 1914-vintage. Caliber is .30 Government 1903 (.30-03), which in 1906 was modified and became the .30 Government 1906 (.30-06). The finish is faded and the butt has been repaired and extended, but its still a fun gun to own and shoot! I even came with the original Winchester sling swivels that hook into the eyes on the barrel and butt. Jim

I too developed the 95' itch a few years back, about the same time as the 8/81/1900/14/141/760/7600/92/94/86/93/336/1895 all hit me. I've been one sick dude! At top is 405wcf,38-72wcf,35wcf deluxe,30-06 Browning and last a 270wcf that might someday be the biggest "sleeper' of them all.

450Yukon,
Wow, that is an incredible collection of 1895 rifles. I still want one in 405 Winchester. It would be my "TR" rifle. I did find one a couple years ago in a local gun shop that was like new and chambered for the grand old 30'-06. I should have bought it...

Thanks Tnrifleman.
Up here where I live, the 95's and the 8/81's were sorta 'orphans' till a few years back. Wish I'd bought more when I had the chance. Paid a whopping $175 for the 38-72!
