These aren't really vintage pistols (late 70s early 80s), but they are cool. These are S&W 39 and 59 pistols modified by DEVEL. The 39 is on the left and the 59 on the right. These are "Full House" conversions; meaning in addition to chopping the frame/slide, they are given see through grips, hooked trigger guards and scalloped slides. These guns came out before you could get a "mini 9". Although S&W pistol conversions were their bread and butter, DEVEL also modified Colt 1911s. They are VERY rare. I've actually qualified with these guns and carry them off-duty on occasion. i560.photobucket.com/albums/ss49/koz5614/Picture057.jpg

koz5614,
The "DEVEL" custom pistols were quite interesting, and as you mentioned, were ahead of their time. In circles that used "serious social purpose" guns, these pistols developed a cult gun status. I've never had the opportunity to fire one, but I do admire their features. I'm a retired LEO and firearms instructor, so this type of pistol appeals to me. Thanks for sharing, and yes, I'll admit to being green with envy!
