I finally got my project rifle back from a local gunsmith. Years ago I picked up an Enfield Model 1914 rifle in 303 caliber. The gun needed a barrel, but I got it to make up into a big bore bolt gun. The P-14 is the same basic action as the later 1917 Enfield chambered for the 30-'06 cartridge used by some US troops during WWI. These rifles were made in the US by Winchester, Remington, and Eddystone, a Remington company. The P-14, being chambered for a rimmed cartridge, works well with a belted round without modification.
I chose the 450 Marlin cartridge just to have something a bit different. I didn't really need another belted magnum rifle. I wanted a "big hammer" to play with and use for the occasional hog hunt. I had a nice walnut stock, so the gunsmith used it and the action to make up my rifle. He installed a 24 inch barrel and matte blued the metal. He equipped it with a Williams receiver sight at my request. The rifle seems to shoot very well with factory Hornady 350 grain ammo. It feeds and extracts/ejects well and the fired cases look great. I'm going to shoot it more soon and also work up a load after getting a set of reloading dies.
Another vintage Remington rifle rides again! ;D

No tease intended. I don't yet have the ability to post photos. Hopefully, I will be able to soon.

From a guy who has deserves to be whipped with a wet noodle for not getting his own pics posted. Now I've got to get on it, with the pics or quit the nagging!!

450yukon,
Interesting cartridge. What is the parent case for the 450 Yukon?
My 450 Marlin is working quite well. It feeds and extracts beautifully. The extra wide belt also keeps anyone from chambering it in another belted cased rifle. I love the 45-70 and have one in a Winchester repo 1886 extra light rifle. This is my first 450 Marlin. So far, I'm pleased. The Hornady ammo (350 grain) is good, but I intend to load for it soon. A set of RCBS dies are my next purchase.

Cases are Ultra Mags cut to 2.1 in. WSM cases would have been bit short and see more uniform results necking down rather than up. Just my cheaper version of the 450 Alaskan. Reamer/dies and bit of work on the Marlin action for the fatter case and off to the range.
Too many guns and not enough time, I haven't developed as many loads as I'd like, but got lucky with 300gr Barnes,60gr/VN130=2300+fps and one hole at 100yds. Barnes 250gr/66gr/VN133 pushes 2600fps and mild to shoot. Went Elk hunting this past fall but didn't have any luck, really wanted to see what it would do. Made dummies up in a bunch of lengths/calibers but settled on 2.1in rather than 2.25 as is Alaskan as it made it whole lot easier to fit in lever action. Trimmed RUM cases are heavy,242gr so I weigh and separate to prevent spikes. The original 25 cases that I fire-formed I'm still reloading those for the 18th-20th time and without any trimming since are now at 2.094 and have not lost a single case. Water capacity is 88grs,so at this length,2.1in, don't feel I'll run out of powder room in a 7 1/2 lb lever gun! When things permit I'll build a bolt on a WSM action so I can see what it really will do. At same time from Manson I also ordered a 358/300 RUM reamer but haven't made anything there yet,but did buy a 338RUM for that, but think I'll keep that as is. It's been fun... Bob.
