Rarely do these rifles get on the big screen. Here's a screenshot from the upcoming Johnny Depp movie "Public Enemies" based on the life of John Dillinger.

I'm really looking forward to this one. They filmed much of it around our area. A couple of friends were extras. One interesting set: they filmed "Tuscon, AZ" scenes in Beaver Dam, WI in March...

Looks like there is a Winchester 1907 in this movie as well. It's difficult to see unless you enlarge it but the gentleman behind Baby Face and his Thompson clearly is shooting an 07 with a 10-round mag and a vertical forearm grip (these have been well-documented as being used by the gangl. Take a look: Here's another photo:

I'd expect demand (and prices) for the Remington Model 8 and Winchester 07 rifles to go up, depending how obvious these rifles are in the movie, and how popular the movie becomes.

I'd really like to see this movie. Besides seeing vintage Remingtons and Winchesters used, Depp is usually excellent.

I think rmh is correct in that the prices will go up on the Rem. 8 and Winny 1907 - the movie trailers are generating a ton of interest. I've had the Rem 8 for a while and I have a goal of getting a 1907 before July 1.

Pretty darn good movie. The wife even liked it. A good amount of model 8 time, but I didn't see one fired. Would have liked to see the old horse in action! There were several model 11 shotguns on screen too. Thompsons ruled the day, but there was a couple 1907 winchesters, they were even mentioned by caliber as being part of the FBI unit's equipment - "351 Winchester autoloading rifles."
This really could have been a 3 hour movie and not been long enough. There are a few insignifigant historical inaccuracies, but pretty good overall.
I would recommend seeing it in the theater to get the full sound effects.

I saw it too and liked the heck out of it. The wife and girl-child appreciated the love story and, of course, "Johnny." I enjoyed the hardware. You really got to look to see the 1907s but they are tricked out with TSMG forearm grips, 10 round mags, and compensators. I'd love to make one of these but my 1907 is too nice to mess with. Going to have to find a beater. I echo 35rem's suggestion about seeing it in the theater - you get the full effect.

I found a photo of the modified 1907 being used in the movie - very cool with the vertical forearm and compensator!

Unreal, totally coincidentally, my wife and I went to see the late (cheap show) of Public Enemies - by the time it was over we were on the anniversary of his death, 75 years ago today!
I was surprised at how it was made. The best way to describe it is, to forget the facts as you know them and enjoy it as a characterization of John Dillinger, in that case it was very good. Especially good if you read the online info from the director and Depp before seeing it, adds considerable depth. Even my wife enjoyed it.
I of course went to see the hardware as I have at least 4 of the different weapons used. (Does anyone have a listing of what weapons were represented?) Good thing I didn't expect a talkie, I only picked up about a third of the lines and even my wife missed about a third. Still it was good and worth seeing on the big screen (as suggested).
And this is from one past 60 and the other rapidly approaching it. Plus, we rarely watch movies, and almost never TV. Although, my penitence for taking her, is that I now have to see Julia & Julia with her! Oh well, I do like to eat, so ....
