You know you’re a "vintage" gun nut if.......
12. You're the "gun guy" at work, to whom people come to when they need to identify a "weird gun" they found in their Grandad's closet......."I found this gun.......It looks like one of them Civil War guns, but it has a funny metal piece near the........" You- "Yeah it's a Trapdoor Springfield" and in the same breath you make them an offer for it.
11. You have regular "shooter" rifles in calibers that few people on earth have ever heard of. You just sighted in your .257 Roberts this afternoon, and your .218 Bee needs a new scope.
10. You refuse to buy or shoot rifles with synthetic stocks, because wood has worked for 300 years, so why mess with it?
9. Your home defense handgun was made in 1886.
8. Your hunting rifle was made in 1912.
7. You own at LEAST 10 firearms made by American gun makers who are long defunct. People ask what make the revolver you are shooting is, and you reply that it's an American Tool and Die. Your first shotgun was a Harrington & Richardson which you still own and shoot.
6. You tell your shooting buddies you just got a new pistol........they say ".40?" You're like, "No, 7.65 French Long."
5. You have actually had a serious discussion about the stopping power of a round that has been out of production for at least 50 years. You consider .44 American to be under-rated as a man-
stopper, and Colt should never have stopped making revolvers in .41 Long Colt.
4. The smell of Hoppe's brings back many fond memories.
3. You have taken a deer with a .401 WSL.
2. You can not only identify every old rifle and pistol in ANY given Civil War,WWI and WWII movie, but you also own 3 of them and just fired one earlier today.
1. Your "regular" gun shop not only knows what .303 British and 7mm Mauser are, but stocks 7 different brands including surplus.
