Cool front sight, I believe made during the early 1950's. The model B-400 was for the model 8/81...I've seen very few of them. The sight had a hood that could be moved to allow the desired amount of light to hit the gold bead or crossair, almost like a primitive form of Truglo. If anyone has more photos please share them. These were taken from an auction about a year ago.

Here is my other gun with a Dockendorf. Rem Model 30 express also in 30 rem. 81 I bought that model 8 you show and it shoots great with that sight. The one on the model 30 has a gold bead on a single crosswire. ;D I prefer the cross hair to the bead.

Two really nice looking rifles, and interesting sights! I've never seen any of that type before.

I'll try to get some better closeups of the sights. I picked up a second crosshair sight on GB last year. They were made between 1950 and 1953. Part of the upsurge in rifle target shooting that followed WWII. Interesting sights but I guess they did not make to cut in the market place.
