From our town (at least from an artist's perspective) needs a few cars on both sides of the street, otherwise similar - to your neck of the woods ... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Merry Christmas from Tennessee. Great photo SS40! Hey Mitch, does Cottonwood still look like that drawing?

Thanks for asking Larry - Actually they are working to make Cottonwood look more western then it ever was and a couple of "Western Days" are being planned. Although, we are only 300' above sea level, 18 degrees in the winter and 116 degrees in the summer limits the enthusiasm and hinders the choice of dates, let alone the crowds.
Our only real claim to fame are the "Cottonwood Bulls" on the rodeo circuit. If you are into Rodeo's the bulls are well known, the riders that ride them get the best scores, etc. - if they stay on. And the last Indian War (at least in CA) was just a couple of hours away.
In the picture/postcard that I posted, there are a few of the original buildings, plus now the new buildings are required to have the old west look with false fronts, etc. There are even some wooden sidewalks 3 steps up from the street, but most are now concrete that looks like wood. (For interest's sake we live about 2 miles out of town but the smallest building on the right, with the pointed roof, is actually my accountants office; one of the oldest buildings with crocked walls, floors, etc. - but of course her computers now.)
Plus, Cottonwood is "almost" mentioned (and a couple of Kirk's hunting spots are mentioned) in Louis L'Amour's short story "Home in the Valley". Cottonwood is the wide spot (camp) on the trail north of Red Bluff, near the Sacramento River, where the hero swaps horses with some folks as he is trying to get about 600 miles north to Portland, OR from Sacramento, CA in 5 days (or so) - before the Steamers arrives, with the announcement that the Savings and Loan/Bank where he has put all the cattleman's money, has gone belly-up and they will lose all the money and their ranches.
But, we are definitely "Out West". We have an open-range law (no fences), cows/stock have the right-away, if you hit one on the road or anywhere, you pay for it. CA also has an open-gun law, that says you can wear a gun NOT concealed (unless you have a license for concealed) but the gun must be UNLOADED! Brown bears (even in town) and "wild cats" are becoming more of a problem - the cats kill a few joggers every year, but of course are "protected"!! We do have some eagles, but I have been some of the few that have have actually seen them.
Regardless of the stupid laws, commie-pol..., too many people, etc. it is still a beautiful state with some "flare".
