I have stumbled on a first edition of Henwoods original book called The 8 and the 81: History of Remington's Pioneer Autoloading Rifles. I just bought a copy of the newest book that most guy's here already have, and then stumbled on this one. It is $45.00 and I was wondering if anyone on here has one or has seen one. I assume his latest book has all the info of the first and more, but I am thinking of getting it just because it is not readily available. Any input on it?

Kirk, I do not know that there are additions or major differences in the editions of the Henwood book other than corrections. I may be wrong but the main difference is in who and where the actually publishers were. I know that the current edition is published by an outfit in Canada.

I assumed that since the title was different and the fact that there are two editions of that title, then there were some additions made to the newest version with a completely new title. Or maybe this is a hardback collectors edition where the older two are softback versions of the same book with only corrections in each. ? In any event, since it is my favorite collectible gun...I may get it anyways for the simple reason that you don't see them everyday.

Kirk,
I have a copy of the revised second printing of the first version that I bought diectly from John Henwood (signed). I have not looked at the new version so I cannot comment on the differences. I would assume that the newer version has additional information since collectors were always giving John new information.
