Hi, I have read somewhere about a light .30 Rem FBI load but I can not find it. It was supposed to be of .351 WSL level. I would like to find the info and/or get more info. Thanks Martin

The information you seek is in John Henwood'w book, "The Great Remington 8 and 81". I know that a light .30 Remington FBI loading is referred to in John Henwood's book. His information comes, I believe, from correspondence in which Remington and the FBI discuss special rifles for the FBI. The FBI is asking for .30 Remington ammo with the same ballistic characteristics as the .351 WSL ammo they are using. (Why...?) There is a reference to modifications to the recoil buffer springs in these special FBI rifles. And of course they use the Lyman 41 receiver sights.

Thanks Hardrada55. Some time ago I finded a thread about FBI load and the advise of not using FBI rifles with normal load as those rifles were regulated for the lighter load. Unfortunatelly I can not find the thread I have google it, search on historial of my computer, without success. Also remember a picture of a bow of .30 Remington ammo from the FBI but also can not find the source. Thanks Martin Thanks Martin

Rumor has it that the FBI liked the .351 so much that they wanted to duplicate it's performance. I recall an incident where the FBI was involved in a shootout during the 30's where in some criminal was shooting at them from atop of the stairs with his BAR. He was wearing a bp vest. One of the agent's shot him in the back with his .351. The bullet was found on the front of his vest. That very bullet is on display in their museum.
