I was told by someone that all it takes to make the change is rechambering from .35SL to .351SL and using M1907 magazines. Is this true? Is it even possible?

Hesitation blow-back operated actions. .35 WSL cartridge generates 779 ft/lbs of energy. .351 WSL generates 1400 ft/lbs of energy. Almost twice as powerful. "...all it takes to make the changes is rechambering..." I don't think so. Saying all you need to do to convert from .35 WSL to .351 WSL is to rechamber and use .351 mags indicates a failure to grasp the basics of how the gun operates.

I have seen one 1905 that was a 35 that was chambered to 351 with a 1 stamped behind the 35 .I did look it over and the ejector also appeared to have been cut back with a file for the longer case .Also the exposed buffers were pounded out and the bits of them were in the forend ,the butt stock is broken at the wrist and wrapped in wire and screws. The forend was also splintered beyond repair
I would not recommend the conversion as the buffer assembly is not encased as the 07/10 to accept the extra recoil to start with ,finding a chamber reamer will probably very difficult or have to get one made .And after you do the work /pay for it to be done you will end up with a firearm that will end up self destructing like the example I looked over
I have 4 wsl rifle that we converted to different calibers and I would NOT rechamber the 1905 to 351 as the 35 is an easy one to reload for using 38sp by trimming the rims and bullets from graff. Or just find a 1907 as nice ones are still out there at reasonable prices Just my opinion cheers Peter

That's kinda what I figured. Even though this is a basket case parts gun with no mags or wood, the idea of rechambering it to .351SL made the price attractive. Thanks for the info, guys.

Shoot it in the original chambering. That would be the easiest thing to do.
