I recently bought a Remington Model 8 .35 Rem., made in 1929. I'd like to take the barrel assembly apart to clean, lube and inspect the insides. Is there a spanner wrench or tool available? I can't find one online.

I found an easy way to remove the barrel nut (I also invented fire and the wheel). I removed the set screw from a RCBS die locking collar, slid the collar over the barrel nut, lined up its hole with the hole in the nut, slid a pointed screwdriver/pick through the collar and into the hole in the nut. As I turned the collar, the pick in the hole held tightly and it unscrewed easily. I had planned to load up some rounds but decided to completely strip the rifle down and clean it. I'm glad I did - it's pretty grimy inside. I bought some Grumpa-made brass (looks great)and plan to use .358 158 grs bullets to start, with IMR 4227 powder (it works well in my Winchester Self Loaders). I fired the Winchester .401 SL the other day - I named it The Big Ouch. I have to remember to bring the butt recoil pad. Definitely not as mild as the smaller Self Loaders, but still a great shooter. How do the Winchester .401 and the Remington MOdel 8 compare (recoil, accuracy, etc).
