What conversions do you have. I've heard (but not seen) of an 05 in .218 Bee and in .30 Carbine.

Hi I have a 1907 converted to 30 carbine by sleeving the barrel and i functons flawless .A 1910 converted to 44 auto mag by boring the barrel and it als works flawless .
And am currently working on a 338-223 strait short going on to a 1905 /35 that I recently aquired .This rifle has been re finishd and the bore is so-so .I have already started the new barrel.I ran the #s through the quick load program and also COTW has incorrect info on the cartridge .This one runs in the same spec as the 35wl not the 351 .Also with making the new barrel it can be coverted back to its original 35wsl by swaping the barrel and the ejctor back if a person chooses easily
I can post pics of the proress if intrested .I found the conversions not to bad to do and good use for example that would have been relegated to parts status because of condition , rusted chamber and bore .I did do the first two conversions
Cheers Peter

found another 1911 12 gauge in decent condition .I have been slowly working on the first one and had to make up new buffers as I can't find replacements for the broken ring and flattened bolt stop .
A friend at the local hydralic shop recomended some UHMW that they use in their systems for buffer material .Made up some and did some tests /froze them and beat them with a sledge .Non broke ,but did get some to deform .So the verdict is I will use the material and have made replacement shot gun and rifles buffers .
Also ordered up new stock set for the s/g and will re wood one and use the best left over pieces for the other .Brian at Macon is very helpful and is where I source the replacement wood for my rifle projects .

How does the 1911 shoot? Do you think their reputation is deserved?

these are an odd duck to use especially with having to pull the barrel back to load it .Both of these hammer quite prounounced when fired with light target 7 1/2 loads .I would not say they are a great s/a s/g .I would consider it a novelty and have one to fill a hole in a set ,but not a shotgun that I would use on a regular basis.
as for their reputation I cant really comment on as both of these shotguns are well used, worn and nothing left pristine on either and I only fired each a couple of time to try them out.
my understanding from what I read on the web was that winchester was replacing these with m12 pumps for just bringing them in but who ever owned these examples chose to keep and use these awkward guns to hunt with them a great deal .
By todays standards they are awkward to use, but a piece of history if understood can be used safely in my opinion .
